Xcel's process differs by state. Use the Colorado list for Public Service Company of Colorado territory and the Minnesota list for Northern States Power territory; Xcel's other states are not covered here yet.

The structural contents of an Xcel Colorado DER packet, per Xcel's Interconnection Application Portal process guide. Which items apply depends on program, ownership, and whether storage is included.

• Application in the Interconnection Application Portal — contact information, system details, application details, permanent premise number (temporary accounts are not permitted)
• Engineering process fee — $100 ≤ 10 kW AC / $1,000 > 10–250 kW AC / $2,000 > 250 kW–2 MW AC verify current schedule
• Application deposit fee for Solar*Rewards ($250 small / $1,500 medium verify current schedule) or Solar*Rewards Community (deposit escrow confirmation)
• One-line diagram — installer name, address, complete AC and DC system specifications; meter collar adaptor documented if used
• Site plan
• UL 1741 inverter listing
• 200% Rule support documentation when the automatic sizing check fails
• Solar Bank election form (Solar*Rewards and DG)
• Small Generator Interconnection Agreement (SGIA) for systems over 25 kW AC
• Meter collar waiver if using an approved meter collar adaptor
• Tenant and landlord release form for rental properties
• Energy storage declaration and battery details when storage is included
• At final documentation: electrical inspection approval, and the NABCEP form for Solar*Rewards applications

Minnesota applications follow the statewide MN DIP framework. Structurally, a Minnesota packet includes:

• MN DIP interconnection application for the applicable track — Simplified for certified inverter-based systems of 20 kW or less, otherwise Fast Track or Study
• Application fee — up to $100 for the Simplified track per the Minnesota PUC verify current schedule
• One-line diagram and site/system technical details, including certified (listed) inverter documentation
• Signed agreement — Uniform Statewide Contract for the smallest systems, or the MN DIA with its cost estimate, returned within 30 business days
• Net metering election for systems of 40 kW or less under Minn. Stat. § 216B.164
• Solar*Rewards Minnesota program forms if participating confirm current revision
• Proof of electrical inspection before parallel operation is authorized confirm current revision
